Top 10 Most Liked Instagram Posts in 2019

If we haven’t said it enough already, a LOT happened on social media in 2019. But as with every great game, some people come out on top. Last year the Top Liked Post was Kylie Jenner’s debut picture of Stormi which got 18.6M likes. Celebrities like Cristiano Ronaldo and Beyonce also featured on the list more than once. This year, however, we see some fresh faces.

In this article we are going to take a look at the Top 10 Most Liked Photos of 2019 using the insights provided by the Popular Chips Analytics Platform and see if these posts accurately reflect how the year went.

#1: World Record Egg – 54.1M Likes

2019 was the year that a stock photo of an egg broke the internet. Jennifer Aniston, please sit down.

As the caption on the post suggests, it was intended to collectivise all users of Instagram and overthrow the single most liked picture at the time, which belonged to Kylie Jenner. Needless to say, the egg succeeded. The account currently has 7.3 Million followers and is sort of an egg-meme account.

Break records, not shells.

#2: Jennifer Aniston’s FRIENDS Selfie – 15.5M Likes

This was another big moment in 2019. So big that it caused a temporary crash of Anniston’s account. She gained over 100K followers within the first hour of posting and currently has 23.5 Million followers.

This might just be the grainiest selfie ever taken in the iPhone age, but people love it and that says something.

#3: The Rock Gets Married – 14.6M Likes

We all love a good wedding, and there is really no denying how wonderful this couple looks on their big day.

The Rock might also just be the only person who can roll the sleeves up on his shirt at his own wedding and get away with it.

#4: Selena Gomez Trying To Look Like A Fellini Film And Succeeding – 14.5M Likes

Although Gomez moved down a couple of spots on the Top 10 Most Followed list, her posts are still doing unbelievably well. In this picture she poses on a boat in Italy, and is absolutely glowing.

Many have commented on how much healthier Selena has looked recently — we agree and are happy for her. 2019 spotlighted a lot of self-care and self-love content on Instagram, which has been amazing for the community. It’s even better when celebrities mirror this behaviour and use their influence to encourage others to do the same.

#5: Selena Gomez (Again) – 14.5M Likes

The 5th Most Liked post also goes to Selena, and this compilation of a day at the beach.

The next 4 posts are all by Kylie Jenner. While our Egg Pal managed to out-like Kylie, she still occupies quite a significant space on this list and is likely to retain that title for some time.

#6: Kylie for Playboy – 14M Likes

#9: Travis Scott’s Birthday Wish – 13.3M Likes

#10: Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr. Take Some Selfies – 13.2M Likes

Tom Holland, who once famously destroyed gender on an episode of Lip Sync Battle (a greater achievement than playing Spiderman, in my eyes), makes it to the list for the first time! Here he is with co-star RDJ.

We did it Mr Stark!

Between a meme ousting Kylie Jenner from her position, a grainy selfie that broke Instagram, an emphasis on loving yourself, and a humbling reference to the end of one of the greatest eras in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I think this list did quite an accurate job of wrapping up the year. What do you think?
