Singapore Grand Prix 2017

All about the winner and some of the best posts on IG

What a weekend for all as the 10th Singapore Grand Prix puts on an exciting race – finishing with a total of 3 safety cars and 12 drivers. The race had a wet and chaotic start with a collision that retired 3 top drivers, Ferrari’s Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen, and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.

The unexpected turn of events led to Hamilton’s eventual win as he went from fifth to the leading position – his third win in the 10 years of Singapore Grand Prix since 2008!

1st Place: Lewis Hamilton (@lewishamilton)

Surprisingly, Hamilton’s top post on Instagram for the past 3 months was one that showed his absence from a live event in London. While this decision caused him to come under attack, it seems that his fans are fully supportive of him, at least from the comments we see on this post itself.

And of course, the second best post goes to his latest win in Singapore’s Grand Prix yesterday. This shot taken right after his victory where he danced around his car before leaping into the arms of his team in the crowd.

Top 3 brand mention by Hamilton

Here we see the top 3 mentions by Hamilton on his Instagram where the top position is not surprising at all, his official F1 team @mercedesamgf1. The second most mentioned account comes from @suttonimages, world’s largest independent motorsport picture agency. The third places comes from @Bose, an audio equipment brand that managed to get Hamilton as their official ambassador.

2nd Place: Daniel Ricciardo (@danielricciardo)

Pretty much sums up the race. Wow

Ricciardo’s top post comes from his “crazy” victory at Azerbaijan Grand Prix where he came from the 17th position to championship amidst an incident filled race.

Ricciardo’s second top performing post was at the start of the week of the Singapore Grand Prix where he eventually clinched the second position!

Followers demographics for Ricciardo

Being an Australian racer, Ricciardo’s Instagram following is pretty diverse with the top 3 countries being Brazil, Italy and United Kingdom. He only has 6.83% followers from Australia itself!

3rd Place: Valtteri Bottas (@valtteribottas)

Botta’s top post is a shot with his beautiful wife @emiliabottas, a finnish Olympian swimmer. The two had dated since 2010 and has recently got married in 2016.

One of the highlight in 2017 for Bottas has got to be his contract renewal with Mercedes just last week and we will see more of his amazing performance in 2018.

Top hashtags used by Bottas – statistics by Popular Chips

Botta’s top hashtag used is #VB77, a hashtag and branding of his own, with “VB” as his initial and 77 as his car number. #VB77 can be seen on all his race-related posts and also all his merchandises. The other two hashtags should come as no surprise, both #F1 and #MBfamily.

IG posts with #SingapoerGP, #SingaporeGP2017

One of the top post shared came from @maxverstappen1 who updates his followers frequently (13 posts in total!) on social media regarding his race in Singapore. A pity he could not complete the race!

Snippets from the official @F1 account, documenting the major collision at the beginning of the race that involved and removed 3 top drivers.

Local Singer @jj_lin was an avid supporter of Hamilton as he was seen in the pit with his team throughout the race and even scoring a photo with him (and his trophy) after his victory!

As one of the official sponsor for the race, here we see some of the most elegant SIA Girl @SingaporeAir posing on the street of the Grand Prix.

The race aside, Indian television host, film actor and presenter @Rannvijaysingha met with @fernandoalo_oficial and joined in to make a commitment for a meaningful cause – to never drink and drive with #jointhepact.
