Welcome back to our Influencer Interview column! Today we are excited to Interview Chase Russell the Influencer behind the great success of @imagineerinsta‘s Instagram account.
Describe your Instagram profile, what you post and why.
@imagineerinsta focuses on the beauty and excitement of the Disney Parks. I post original Disney Parks photography daily in order to share the magic of Disney with thousands of others who may not be able to experience it as much as they would like.
When did you start your Instagram experience?
In July of 2013, I posted my first photo to @Imagineerinsta. After posting for three years my quality has improved but my passion has stayed the same. These two qualities have allowed me to build an online following of over 191,000 people.
Did you start with the purpose to make it a job or did it start as a passion that became a job?
I started posting on social media as a complete hobby. I had a strong desire to share my passions and interests with others. As my community and audience grew so did the opportunities. After three years I finally was given the chance to make revenue on my content and turn my passion for Disney and Photography into a small job.
How long did it take you to make your first 10,000 followers?
The first 10,000 followers did not come easy at all, after posting consistently and staying devoted for over a year I finally reached the 10,000 follower milestone. The most difficult part was self doubt. Many times I questioned my abilities, talents and purpose. However, pushing through allowed me to reach the audience of over 190,000 people I have today.
Do you use filters on a regular basis?
To keep up with popular trends I filter almost every one of my pictures. The Instagram community has found a strong obsession with filters and it’s not a bad thing at all. HB2 is by far my favorite VSCO filter and is used on a majority of my photos.
Do you cultivate your Social Media presence in other Networks too?
After developing a strong base on Instagram I expanded into YouTube. Posting weekly videos on YouTube.com/Chasecast I was able to continue sharing my passion for Travel, Disney and Photography through another platform.
What’s your favorite Social Network and why?
Instagram! I’m an extremely visual person. I absolutely love seeing other photos and pushing myself to find unique angles.
Have you ever collaborated with other influencers? If so, how?
Absolutely, partnerships with other influencers is essential to social media growth. I have partnered with companies doing various promotions and others in my online community to provide giveaways to our followers. It’s always fun to work with others who share your passions and it’s something the followers and fans really love.
How often do you publish sponsored posts commissioned by brands?
I rarely post sponsored content mostly because I am just getting into the world of Brand Deals. However, when posting for another brand I always try and relate it to the content to my page. I believe this makes it more effective for the brand and my audience.
Do you mainly work directly with brands or through agencies?
I have only worked through one agency and have never been directly contacted by a brand themself.
Have you ever bought followers or likes?
No, my goal when posting content was never to get 100,000 likes or a million followers. My goal was to share my Disney Parks photos with others who would enjoy them as much as me. As I posted consistently the followers and likes came with it. When your passion for your content shows, people will see it and want to follow along
What would you suggest to someone who wants to be an Instagram Influencer?
If you want to be a celebrity than you are going into it with the wrong mindset. Find something you and many others are passionate about and share it through social media. Quality and consistency are key, when these two things are combined others will easily be drawn to your content and want to follow. A desire to share your passion is really what leads someone to becoming an Instagram Influencer.
