House of Cards

5 Things You Ought To Know Before The 5th Season.

We all know how important it is to enjoy your work. Well, I handle influencer marketing and its analytics at Popular Chips. I can tell you how great a campaign is or which Influencer should be your new best friend. It is pretty fun and everyone here is a great fan of Netflix. We all have our favorite shows ranging from Sense8 to Luke Cage. One of the shows we are all looking forward to is the 5th season of House of Cards!

We decided it’s best if we share with you how House of Cards is doing. Maybe even throw in some interesting factoids as appetizers as we eagerly await the release of the 5th season. I mean, what better reason can I have for watching season 1 to 4 all over again!

1. There is no such thing as an ‘original thought’

House of Cards, as great as it is, is actually based on the 1990 BBC satirical political drama of the same name? After publishing this article I am thinking of checking this out! Wonder who makes a better ‘Francis’. Ian Richardson or Kevin Spacey?

2. House of Cards is trending

If you don’t understand the hype behind House of Cards or you believe it is some publicity stunt, just look at the following images. Google Trends is a public web facility of Google Inc., based on Google Search. It shows how often a particular search term is entered relative to the total search volume across various regions of the world, and in various languages. Notice the trend??

I also used our analytics platform to analyze their Instagram account. I can only speculate as to why there was a drop in followers but the important to note is the rise! Everyone is psyched for the upcoming season. It is interesting that with every season House of Cards are actually gaining more traction and more followers on social media.

3. The Fans

What is a show without its fans? After all, it is their support, fanfare, and viewership that supports the show season after season. Do you think ‘Friends’ could have made 10 seasons if they did not have a viewership of 20 to 50million? Then again Fox did cancel ‘FireFly’, despite an average viewership of 4.7million viewers 😑 Anyway here is what we found out.

Do click on the image for a closer look. Based on their Instagram account, most of the followers (21%) are from the United States and their second biggest fan base is from Brazil (12.55%). This is in contrast to the fact more people in Poland and Ireland are searching for House of Cards! Personally, I thought House of Cards would be more popular in the United Kingdom but I guess they might be more into ‘The Crown’ more.

Actually, let me look that up…

No kidding! To be honest I was not expecting Sri Lanka to be in the 3rd position but I guess it’s no surprise people in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Ireland are interested in ‘The Crown’. Anyway back to House of Cards!

4. Teaser

I’ve been meaning to talk with you.

No surprise there. The short teaser encouraging citizens to “watch out for each other, and yes, watch each other.”  You got to admit what makes the character of Claire Underwood so intimidating is her fierce, androgynous beauty. This is their second best performing post. At the time of this article, achieving a whopping 28, 813 likes and 1020 comments. Yes, I was saving the best for last.

5. Best Post

The ultimate power couple toasting to their successful reign. It is really hard not to root for them. This post of theirs received a staggering 55,921 likes and 2, 223 comments.

To sum it all up. House of Cards is an intelligent political thriller. It keeps you at the edge of your seat. The minds behind it have put in a lot of work to make it such a huge success. From the directors to the writers and the cast. I highly doubt this show would have been this successful if not for the collective talent of all these amazing people. With less than 10 days to the 5th Season, hope this has fed your anticipation!

Let’s wrap things up with my personal favorite quote:
